Instructor
Qualifications:
The instructor holds a Ph.D. from Harvard
University, a B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology, and has over twenty-five years of experience
helping students. The instructor has also held senior corporate positions. Academic
distinction of the instructor is underscored by the fact that upon completing
studies at MIT, he was offered admission with full scholarships to
doctoral programs at Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. This included the vary rare achievement of receiving two
separate offers of admission, both with full scholarships, for two
different doctoral programs at Harvard.
The instructor had to turn down one of the full Harvard scholarships in order to accept the other.
Thinking,
not memorization:
An equation, fact, or method that is merely
memorized will easily be forgotten. A student who
does well by just memorizing or following fixed procedures will later find
themselves with a serious disadvantage. Perdocere
emphasizes proper comprehension and the ability to
creatively use knowledge. This is the intent of
school exams, standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT, and college
admissions. The goal is not just to get into the

Individualized instruction for students who either need to catch

curriculum. Work with the student's curriculum,
teach the required material, detailed decomposition of
and solutions to problems. Rebuild mathematical foundations, improve
study habits, test taking abilities, organizational skills, build self esteem and confidence.
SAT, PSAT, and ACT Math Preparation:
Perdocere is proud to provide the best math preparation in the region for the SAT, PSAT, and ACT - no one else is even close.
Teach the required material,
drill practice exams, detailed decomposition of and
solutions to problems, expose underlying themes, question categories,
time management, and test taking strategies. Drill a very large number of practice exams for the SAT & PSAT.

Whether to take the SAT or ACT?
The most certain way to determine whether a student has a propensity for one test over the other is to take
a separate practice test for each.
Perdocere not only analyzes the results of these practice tests, but assesses the abilities and capabilities
of the student by directly observing the student during the examination process.
It is usually straight forward to then determine which test is better suited for the student.
Single tests that attempt to determine this propensity suffer from lack
of consideration for a wide variety of factors. The math portions of the SAT and ACT are distinctly different and require very different preparation.
Schools

As experienced educators, we all want what is best for our
students. Perdocere will give a lecture or
lecture series at schools to support and supplement math and
science curricula, and to help prepare students for
standardized tests. Perdocere works with
teachers, counselors, and administrators to help students maximize the
learning experience. Schools and teachers
are welcome to call.
Tutoring for
Teachers:
Perdocere
also offers tutoring for teachers
- review the material you need to teach, help preparing lessons/homework and exams,
help with grading, coaching how to better
communicate concepts to students. As with all tutoring, teacher tutoring
is strictly confidential.
In-Person or Online Tutoring:
If you are within my driving region, I will come to your home.
If you are outside my designated zones, we can meet at a nearby library
or have tutoring online. Online tutoring is ideal for those who desire unsurpassed quality of instruction but do not reside
locally. Perdocere uses electronic pen tablets and speaker phones for online tutoring,
not chat sessions nor messaging.
This provides a true interactive learning experience.
Online tutoring also enables last minute "emergency"
